Research from Queen’s University’s School of business report suggests that workplace bullying is more damaging than racial or gender harassment, according to a recent article in the Vancouver Sun.

The report was released just as Ontario Bill 168 is about to come into effect, which requires employers to develop and train employees on workplace violence prevention policies.

Marin is the first California county to use a new software system that will link domestic violence records across the state. Twenty other counties will begin using the system by the end of the year.

The Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority recently published an advisory on its website, “Chain of Command: When Disruptive Behavior Affects Communication and Teamwork.”

According to the advisory, chain of command in healthcare is “the line of responsibility to both the delivery of appropriate patient care and feedback about perceived appropriateness and the impact of that care.” It provides healthcare staff with a formal process to achieve satisfactory resolutions or report concerns about questionable patient conditions or care delivery.

In a study conducted on mice, scientists have discovered proof of a link between the immune system and psychiatric illnesses.

According to an article on Businessweek.com, scientists were able to cure mice that exhibited an obsessive compulsive condition known as “hair-pulling” disorder by transplanting bone marrow from other mice that did not have the disorder.
