How do you express anger without becoming aggressive or damaging you professional image?
The key is to separate the emotion from the behavior from your feelings.
If you feel the need to express your anger to another individual, there are constructive ways to do so. Be direct and specific in your communication. Don’t blame others, and be sure to listen to the other individual’s response. Realize that the individual may have views that differ from your own.
Pay attention to how you feel when you start to experience angry emotions. Be aware of how your body physiologically responds, and breathe deeply. Ask yourself questions about why you feel the way you do.
If you do decide to express your feelings, attempt to do so without sarcasm or other undesirable behavior. Remember that you can always decide not to speak up at all, and instead, continue in a calm, professional manner.
