The Maryland Governor’s Office for Children developed new rules for residential child care facilities that require them to provide training to their personnel on behavioral interventions, strategies, and supports. The Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 14.31.06 also require the facilities to train personnel on the appropriate implementation of the new rules developed in accordance with these regulations.
In addition, residential child care facilities must identify personnel who are authorized to serve as a program-wide resource to assist with training on de-escalation techniques and to ensure proper administration of time out and restraint.
CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training program was evaluated by the Governor’s Office for Children, and has been certified as meeting the requirements set forth by the state of Maryland as of March 29, 2010.
